[CHARACTER] Name: Chester Centino Codename: Longshot (II) Age: Hehas the mental capability of about 17 - is really 24 Character Base: Longshot Home Reality: Mojoverse / 2nd Generation Heroes
What did this person do wrong to be pulled out by the Timebroker? Mojo, the newest version of him at least, was mounting a second attack on the school to get to Chester. Simply by being, Chester was putting the whole world into a precarious position, since the newest version of Mojo was planning on using the civilians of the world to get Chester to surrender. The Timebroker decided it wasn't worth the bloodshed that would result and pulled Chester out of that reality.
Appearance: Chester has big blue eyes and blond hair. He’s as lanky as they come, but that doesn’t hamper him from being graceful and solid. He has two facial expressions mainly. The happy, goofy smile he wears often and the confused, unsure expression that comes when people make fun of him or he simply doesn’t understand. PB: Joe Anderson
Powers / Skills Chester has only three fingers and an opposable thumb on each hand. He also has leather-like skin, hollow bones and two hearts, giving him superhuman speed, agility, endurance, and reflexes. He has exhibited advanced healing abilities as well.
He has a star shaped scar on his left eye from being branded. The scar is only visible (glowing brightly) when Longshot uses his powers. He was genetically engineered and augmented by magical means to have certain superhuman abilities. The mystical augmentation gave him the ability to affect probability fields through psionic means in order to give himself "good luck" in his activities. This allows incredibly unlikely events to happen in Longshot's favor. This ability is tied into the positive aspects of his personality: should he attempt to use his powers for a selfish or evil act, or should he give up hope, his powers will fail to function or even backfire, giving him bad luck.
In the genetic mix, Chester lost the ability to read current thoughts of of people like Longshot could (due to his 'captors' not wanting him to know the truth of his creation), but Chester can read "psychic imprints" that people leave on objects that they have handled and sometimes can even look into the future of the object he touches, otherwise known as psychometric powers.
Weaknesses: Chester’s bound to get on someone’s nerves with his questions about things that others take for granted. He’s learned quite a bit while at the school before The Incident (as he calls it) but some things still catch him by surprise. He doesn’t relent, either, until he gets an answer that satisfies his curiosity.
Personality: Chester loves dancing. His agility comes in handy, finding the beat easily and being able to endure the dance floor for a long time. It doesn't matter what time of music it is - from square dancing to death metal Russian punk, Chester will find a way to get his boogie down. He smokes on occasion, a hidden, stale pack of smokes usually staying in his sock drawer for months on end. He can be loud and curious, getting into the business of others without even realizing it.Is known for peeking up over the tops of things (couches, tables, swimming pools etc) and looking around before ducking his head back down. Chester is fond of drawing and helping others with projects.
Chester's fascination with people's hands is one thing that gets him in trouble sometimes. Since he only has three fingers and a thumb, how people can manage to do less with two extra fingers is beyond him. Still, it doesn't stop him from wanting to thumb wrestle. Chester doesn't much care for red meat (beef and pork particularly). He'll eat chicken and fish, but that's only if there isn't anything else around. His favorite snack is Cheetos, the crunchy moreso than the puffs, but he'd eat either in a heartbeat. He likes building salads and experimenting in the kitchen. His souffles never rise (his luck doesn't make him a better cook) so he just calls them brownies. Chester doesn't like talking about his 'parents', because there isn't much to say. He will usually changes the subject quickly or does a flip - anything to get the talk off where Chester came from.
Overview: The first thing Chester remembered was the sound of thunder in his ears. He was being carried, eyes opening, vision trying to fight through the cloth that was shrouded protectively around his head. A bright flash and, even though Chester didn't know it at the time, but it wasn't a thunderstorm - the lights and sounds came from bombs that were being hurdled at himself and his savior. Two arms came down, wrapping protectively and securely around the infant, Chester feeling warm and drifting back to sleep. When he woke up, it seemed as if he'd aged five years - having no recollection of anything after the bombs were falling. Scrubbing at his eyes with his small hands, the pieces of sleep fell from the corners of his vision.
In the corner of the cottage was a six armed woman, her arms working independently of one another. Two were knitting, two were working over a stove, and the last two were sharpening a sword. The scream from young Chester's throat could have been heard a half-mile away. Once Spiral had actually found him hours later, hiding in a tree, brandishing a coconut as a weapon, tear tracks etched into his cheeks, the typically hardened assassin sat down, setting her weapons to the side and began to speak to him in a slow, soothing voice. Later in his life, Chester really wouldn't be able to recall if he had heard anything she had actually said, but he inherently knew the story.
The six-armed woman, who would be known to Chester as Spiral, had risked her life trying to save Chester from a Very Bad Place on a planet called MojoWorld. Chester's father (to say, the person that had given his genetic material to be used in processing a new version of himself) had been a great hero. This man, Longshot, had led a rebellion against someone named Mojo and had freed a lot of people. between then and now, Spiral continued, he had been captured. Even though he had been a great hero for the rebellion, those in charge had not liked him very much. Before he had been put to death - as far as Spiral knew, that was what had happened - they had taken his genetic material and made the blond boy in the tree.
Spiral stated that they were planning on raising the boy and them using him to get the trust of the rebellion and then slaughter them. For someone speaking to a child, Spiral didn't bother hiding the truth from Chester. Spiral decided that it would be best to leave out the part of how she loved the original Longshot - it would have only complicated matters, she knew. She had saved him so that maybe he could have a better life. Unfortunately, having taken him out prematurely, Spiral had accidentally slowed down the growth of his mind by several years. His body was something that could be trained, but his mind would have to grow on its own. She wept about that at night, but knew it was either this or the alternative - and the alternative would have been death for everything she was trying to make right.
The self-appointed guardian had decided to call the boy Chester - after Chester Cheetah, the cat that donned Chester's favorite snack food. It was an adequate name, and the boy seemed to be okay with it, so there was no argument or need to change it. Knowing that Chester would begin to grow and realize his inherent powers that had been engineered inside him, Spiral had done an energy dance, blinding the two from potential threats - both human and alien. Chester was content, growing up with what he would consider a mother figure who happened to have six arms and a buttload of training. His first mental exercise (of which there were many, Spiral's way of trying to enrich his mind and concentration) was to make several fishing spears and collect enough food for the week. This seemed like it would be a daunting task, but little did either of them know that luck had already been on Chester's side since birth, one rod completely covered with impaled fish by the end of the evening.
Months turned into years and Chester continued to grow into his abilities. The slightly awkward youth had become a graceful, agile young adult, taking to small adventures around the area that they were inhabiting. As Chester grew, Spiral's webbing - the construct that was keeping them virtually invisible - had been fading over time. Once enough of it was gone, Chester was in his mid-twenties with the mental capacity of a fairly old teenager. Spiral felt confident in leaving him, even though it had been met with an argument from the blond. Unfortunately, the argument couldn't have come at a worse time - Mojo himself had spotted Spiral and was heading down to get her and the Longshot clone. A quick dance and suddenly, Chester was standing on the grounds of a school. He didn't recognize where he was or what had happened to Spiral, but the only place he could really go...was inside.
After spending time at the school, fighting Mojo and making friends (not necessarily in that order), Chester awoke to a blinding light out his window. Excited, thinking it was Spiral returning to get him, Chester packed a haphazard bag and ran outside. He waved to a couple friends, wishing them well, before plunging into the light...only to find out Spiral wasn’t waiting on the other side.
